Based on the purpose and literatures, the study frame was designed. The self-made questionnaire was designed three parts, including “intra-hospital transport knowledge of critically-ill patients”, “intra-hospital transport equipment requirements of critically-ill patients”, and “the personal information”. In 2012, from August 1 to August 31 two hundreds nursing staffs were recruited from 7 ICU in a medical center of central Taiwan. The data were collected and analyzed by SPSS 17.0. The results in the study showed that there were significant differences between the years of ICU job, past work experience, the years of past jobs, job class, the past training of ICU, the experience of safely transporting ICU patients and the total scores of transport knowledge (P< .05). The nurses, having older ages and more years of past jobs, got the higher scores of safe transport knowledge. The characteristics of nurses, who took accompanied transporting, were to (1)have more than one years of clinical or critical job experience, (2)accept the ICU, ACLS or IABP training programs, (3)familiarly do first aid techniques, (4)familiarly do portable machines, The results of this study can make a reference to in-service educations for ICU nurses in the medical institutions. The purpose of safely transporting the critical ill patients will be achieved.
