Based on the personal computer, this thesis proposes a smart home monitoring and control structure, which integrates programmable logic controller and distributive embedded controller to build a user friendly control system, to provide a lighting, air condition, environment condition, entrance guarding and remote control system. The proposed monitoring and control architecture have been successfully applied to the supervisory control and data acquisition application of the intelligent power IC design laboratory in Cheng Shiu University. According to the experimental results, the proposed smart home monitoring and control system possess the advantages that includes simple graphical control interface, situational control, dimming control, air conditioning control, environmental control, web based remote control, and so on.
