Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 機械工程學系碩士在職專班 === 101 === The study entitled the performance improvement of the lift type blade small vertical axis wind turbine. Attempt to explore the concept design of the small vertical-axis wind turbine was performed by the installation of a Gurney flap. The purpose of this work was to study the effects of the blade weight, radius of blade rotation, the size, location of the trailing edge flap, and the leading edge flap angle on the performance of the small vertical-axis wind turbine. The non-symmetric NACA 4412 airfoils made of plastic ABS resin (specific gravity 1.06) and the wood resin (specific gravity 0.7) with rotation radius of 200 mm and 270 mm were performed as the experimental cases. The Gurney flap with 5% of the chord length with seven kinds of angles was chosen to implement. The found in the experiment has found that the blade weight to reach the maximum regardless of the radius of gyration. The trailing edge installed with flap, also as the leading edge flap indeed effectively enhance performance in some perspective. This work also provided the whole procedure about how to construct a three-blade-type H-type vertical wind turbine with suitable the sizes of the Gurney flap.
