Investigation has been made on the manufacturing, equipments and practical applications of continuous basalt fibers to offer an alternative to carbon fibers or glass fibers. Also, continuous basalt fiber reinforced phenolic resin composites own preferable mechanical properties and excellent fire resistance. In the thesis, two kinds of composistes were made, namely continuous basalt fiber reinforced phenolic resin composites and continuous basalt fiber reinforced epoxy resin composites, for experimental studies of tensile properties and fire resistance. Finally, some conclusions are made on the experimental results as well as the specimen fabrications.
