The objective of this study is to discuss and explore the current system of Level B and C Qualification Test for Beauty Technicians in Taiwan and the understanding and perspective of professionals from the cosmetology industry. Moreover, the Qualification Test for Beauty Technicians in Taiwan is currently divided into Level C and Level B. According to laws and decrees, Level C Qualification for Beauty Technicians is essential for working beauticians, whereas Level B Qualification for Beauty Technicians represents the competence required for professional high-class beauty lecturers. In this study, the current situation and problems of the system of Beauty Qualifications in Taiwan are discussed, and related references and suggestions on execution and advancement is provided according to the needs of the reformation of the system. In the end, suggestions are made and advanced based on the research results, which are then provided as references for competent authorities, cosmetology industry, educational organizations and relevant people in the reformation of the system of beauty qualifications. Questionnaire sampling survey method is adopted in this study, and the research results showed no significant difference of the understanding of beauticians with difference backgrounds on the current appointment system of beauty qualifications. Furthermore, more than 85% of beauticians agreed with this system. As for the understanding on the design of the implementation of skill tests, the results showed significant difference in the understanding of Level C public range depending on factors such as different gender, marital status and educational background. The survey respondents consider Level C as the basic licence. For people in the beauty industry, making Level C public would be helpful to get its licence. In addition, there is a significant difference in the understanding of beauticians with different marital statuses regarding whether Level B should be made public or not, and the majority agreed that it should not be made public. If Level B was made public, the lecturers’ professional skills would be reduced since it is a high-level cosmetology licence. In the case of “survey of the system of beauty qualifications,” significant difference occurred due to different marital statuses, educational backgrounds and seniority (years of experience) in taking skill tests. In this study, beauticians’ functional understanding, self-enhancement, and mutual relativity of work motivation are discussed. The three points mentioned above (functional understanding, self-enhancement and mutual relation of work motivation) show positive correlation. Among which, self-enhancement and work motivation showed the most relativity. As self-enhancement is increased, a more enhanced mutual relativity of work motivation is generated.
