The system consists of various DG and load can be named by micro-grid system. Because of the different characteristics between various type of DG and load, it is very important to set up an appropriate protection scheme. In this thesis, we will discuss the microgrid test report which was developed in CERTS of United States. However, it belongs to 480V single-point grounding system, which is different from the 380V multi-grounded system in Taiwan. Therefore, it is important to develop a protection strategy which is applicable to the 380V single-point grounding system. A fault detection process for detecting the fault occurs in the microgrid power system was proposed, and this method was also implemented to set the threshold value and adjust it automatically. This detector an detect fault within few sample point duration. Finally, the detector was tested by the staged fault record, result showed that the detector can detect fault effectively.
