As a result, the purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between participating motivation, educating training and case-assisting performance of emergency medical volunteers, and to provide references for relevant units. The subjects of the study were Phoenix Emergency Medical Volunteers of Taichung City Government Fire Bureau. The instrument utilized to collect data was questionnaire, totally 302 volunteers were invited to take part in the present study, 286 questionnaires were returned, and 276 of them were valid. The percentage of valid return rate was 91%. The questionnaire was consisted of 1) Participating Motivation Scale, 2) Educating Training Scale, and 3) Case-assisting Performance Scale. The collected data were quantitatively analyzed with item analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, independent-samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, least significance difference test, Pearson Correlation, and multiple regression analysis in the SPSS version 17.0 for Windows. The major findings were as the following: “to serve others” is the highest aspect of participating motivation, “emotion control” is the highest aspect of educating training, “respect and recognition” is the highest aspect of case-assisting performance. Participating motivation and educating training of volunteers have mutual influences, with higher participating motivation, the effect after joining professional educating training was better. The relationship between case-assisting performance and educating training of volunteer was positively significant. Additionally, with multiple regression analysis, variable aspect predictive analysis, and adjusted regression analysis, the results were all significant, it revealed that cast-assistance of volunteers was necessary. The research suggests that Fire Bureau to recruit volunteers from university and college, bring students who have aspiration participating emergency medical services to join Phoenix Emergency Medical Volunteer Team. Furthermore, for more complete research, future study should include more resources of subject. Besides, if interview part can be added, researchers could acquire participants’ genuine perspectives and feelings, it can help enhancing participating aspiration of volunteers, and solving problems which volunteers actually meet.
