Summary: | 碩士 === 元智大學 === 管理碩士在職專班 === 100 === Camellia oleifera originated from China and is the edible vegetable oil tree of quality wood. The camellia tree, olive tree, palm tree, and coconut tree, are renowned as the world's four major edible vegetable oil trees. The application of Camellia oleifera oil is quite extensive, especially because it is richly nutritious and full of unsaturated fatty acids, oleic acid, and linoleic acid. These give a high smoke point, which is suitable for Chinese cooking. The by-products of Camellia oleifera include tea saponin, seed cakes, and the seed shell that can be made into detergent, foaming agents, emulsifiers and adhesives, etc. It can also be used as a vegetable protein feed and organic fertilizer. In addition, the by-products can be applied as industrial products, such as rubber, synthetic resin, and paint. Consequently, with more and more investment and the development of research into Camellia oleifera, the uses of this plant are becoming wider, definitely resulting in considerable economic benefits. Therefore, the Camellia industry is becoming better known.
Thanks to the rapid development of China's economy in recent years, the majority of people have improved their livelihoods and become well off and the growth of the population of China is rising slowly in small steady scope (about 1.4 billion). As a Chinese saying goes “food is the first necessity of people” and the needs for edible oil are abundant. However, the edible oil produced by China itself could not satisfy the huge need. China has become the biggest country in terms of importing edible oil. Camellia oleifera is a unique woody edible vegetable oil species in China with most situated in poor rural areas. The values are lost and ineffectively used because of the lack of integration of related resources and the outdated planting techniques. Therefore, this study is aimed to be a case study of the integration of China’s Camellia oleifera industry chain. It is expected to provide a reference for the people who want to develop their business in this industry in China from the acquisition of land, the cultivation of high quality Camellia oleifera, the construction and management of Camellia oleifera forests, the oil market and the application and marketing of by-products.
