The solders containing Ti and rare earth elements showed a high corrosion potential in salt solution. The solders, which contained Ti and rare earth elements, had also a high corrosion current density. The initial corrosion rate of the solders containing Ti and rare earth elements was high. However, the corrosion resistance of the solders was better than the solders without Ti and rare earth elements. The formation of the oxide layers on the six solders was not obvious at the initial stage for high temperature oxidation. After 1344 hours high temperature oxidation at 200℃, the oxide layers on the solders containing Ti and rare earth elements were uniform. At high temperature, Zn reacted with Ti to form ZnTi in the Sn-Zn solders containing Ti and rare earth elements.
