The intense commercial competition between smartphone companies is also driving large volumes of complex and often multi-jurisdictional patent litigation. For example, Apple and Microsoft jointly spend $4.5 billion cash purchasing 6,000 patents in Nortel Auction. HTC spend $3 billion cash purchasing the S3 of VIA Technologies. Google spend $3 billion cash purchasing Motorola Mobility. After got this patents, In this study we focused on smartphone patents being litigated .Then using the PCA method and social network analysis method for analysis. Finally, smart phone technology can be divided into seven major areas, including mobile data access and device of design that the largest number of patent litigation cases in two areas. Analyze the major enterprises; we can realize in the layout of the enterprise technology, Apple has the most patents in this study, and also uses the multi-field layout in this industry. For smartphone users, they can know who are the smartest developers of smartphones? For technology enthusiasts, they can realize which smartphone technology areas attracted the most litigation? For patent specialists, managers, owners and litigators, they can understand how to use patent citation analysis method to find the technology position and role of company. For IT specialists and engineers, they can identify the smartphone technologies that have seen the most patent filing activity. These areas are most likely to be the leading areas of innovation and to be high value areas.
