Method The data set was from Huang and Shyu’s research project entitled “ The decision process and willingness-to-pay of family caregivers of persons with dementia for long-term care services: Community-based service utilization and institutionalization” (2004). This project had 215 dyads of persons with dementia and their family caregivers. Result The results showed that the average willing to pay the prices using nursing home, day care, and home service was 16064±11933 dollars/ monthly, 6448±6336 dollars/ monthly, and 81±82 dollars/ hourly respectively. The majority of participants responded 0 dollar while use of these three services. Multiple regression analyses revealed that the family caregivers had higher level of education and family income were more likely to pay higher level of price while use of nursing home services. The level of family income and the distance from to the day care center were significantly related to their willingness to pay for the use of day care. The educational level and emotional support of family caregivers were associated to their willing to pay for using home care services. Conclusion The results of this study suggested that the family caregivers of persons with dementia would only be willing to pay a limited amount for long-term care services. Therefore, the co-pay system of Long Term Care Insurance needs to be reconsidered that the price setting should be not beyond the amount in this study. In addition, there were different factors associated with willingness-to-pay between using of nursing home, day care, and home service. The various factors associated with willingness-to-pay for varied long term care services should be considered into development long term care resources and policy in the future.
