Internship training, implemented the knowledge they have learned. Considered more and more suing cases nowadays, elderly patients with systemic diseases, critical patients with critical thinking that is why the research was conducted. This research objective is to find a better method to train the intern doctors as well to support postgraduate training program for the new graduate dentists. And focus on how to teach the fresh graduate dental student to have a good performance in treating the patients. Methods: This study using ambi-directional cohort study with the participants from intern doctors period of July 2010 to February 2012 using a pre- and post-lecture questionnaire in Taipei Veteran General Hospital. The feedback from the participants will help to gain more information during the training. Results: Six questions out of ten showed significant in self-rated performance with perceiving new information correlate with their thought of difficulty in tooth extraction (P<0.001), push yourself to get the best and rough estimation of successful tooth extraction (P<0.001), positive person in general and the reaction if they face the tooth is difficult to be extracted (P<0.001), make a plan before starting doing something and predict what instrument and technique might need to use to remove to extraction based on its radiographic appearance (P<0.001), focus on achieving your goal and constantly keep track of your progress and they have fulfilled extraction requirements (P=0.014), and reward themselves with achievement they get from the senior doctors (P<0.001). This study has identified several factors that associated with self-regulated learning in training of tooth extraction in oral surgery department. This will help the next training with the better controlled environments and information such as lecture and psychology of patients that given to motivate their self performance when facing the patients.
