Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南藝術大學 === 鋼琴合作藝術研究所 === 100 === French composer Achille-Claude Debussy (1862-1918) began to compose with his own ideals around 1887 when he just finished study in school. His Cing Poèmes de Baudelaire (1887-1889) can be regarded works with new musical language written in this period. To a collaborative pianist, there are several challenges to perform Debussy’s Baudelaire songs. First of all, he or she needs to understand and to interpret texts that only exist in vocal music. Poems of the contemporary French poet Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867) are not easy to understand. Moreover, Debussy created new acoustic effect and increased technical difficulty by using untraditional harmony, melody and rhythm. The main theme of this essay is, with the first song Le Balcon as an example, to reveal how Debussy elevated the importance of piano in melodies through interpreting texts – including understanding meaning and analyzing diction – and discussing music – including dealing with nuance and playing method.
