Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate effect of implementing the induction program for junior high and elementary school new principals in Taipei city. For the purpose of this study, a questionnaire was employed to survey 56 new principals who were participated in new principals induction program, and also 81 their mentor principals. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA to analyze principals’ perception effect of implementing the new principal’s induction program. The findings of this study were as follow:
1. The overall rating toward new and mentor principals’ perception of the effect of implementing the induction program is “excellent” level.
2. There are no differences between new and mentor principals’ perception of the effect of implementing the induction program, their perception of induction program are both “excellent” level.
3. New and mentor principals’ perception of the effect of implementing the induction program did cause significant differences by different personal variables (educational background).
4. Workshops show significant support to effect of implements’ idea of run a school, implementing of school business, Professional Knowledge, in induction program’s content.
5. Mentoring show significant support to effect of implements’ idea of run a school, implementing of school business, Professional Knowledge, peer support, in induction program’s content.
6. Peer networks show significant support to effect of implements’ peer support in induction program’s content.
According to the research findings, some suggestions are proposed for the educational administrative agencies, schools and for future research as well.
