This study employs action research to collect multiple data such as interview notes, observation records, teaching journal and reflection notes. It records the teaching processes and results by qualitative description. The results of the study are as follows: 1. Good teaching strategies may improve the class climate. 2. Relay of recorder playing increases the students’ engagement in class activities. 3. Challenge to the champion of music contest advances the students’ friendship and cooperation. 4. Welcome to challenge encourages students to show their talents and earn the praises. 5. Constructing a system of reward for the class integrates play into teaching. 6. Increasing the teaching ability of reflection and strategies design. Based on the research, some suggestions are proposed for reference: 1. Planning of teaching strategies should take students into consideration. 2. Diversification of music teaching strategies should incorporate techniques of classroom management. 3. Having dialogue with teaching peers may advance teacher thinking. 4. It may take a long time to change students well, so the teacher has to be patient. 5. Teacher’s encouragement helps students pull through their learning difficulties. 6. The scope of the research may be expanded to include differnt grade levels and subject areas. Abstract
The purpose of the research is to examine the relationship between the class climate and a music teacher’s adoption of teaching strategies in order to solve the problems the researcher faces.
