The goal is to investigate the differences and the relationship between the identification of negative messages on TV and individual values of the fifth and sixth graders, based on different background variables and TV watching behavior. The study is also to analyze the personal background variables, TV watching behavior and individual values, and the influence of these three factors on the identification of TV negative messages. Conclusions of this study are as follows: 1.The fifth and sixth graders' TV viewing behavior: (1)They spend more time watching TV on holidays than the other days. (2)Their favorite types of television programs are cartoons, dramas, and variety shows. (3)Different genders show the differences on watching preferences and frequencies of program types. (4)Their motivation to watch TV is to relax, to forget about troubles, and to kill the time as recreational activities. (5)The involvement of parents is focused more on avoiding the influence of TV on children's behavior, less on the impact of TV on children's cognitive level. 2.The fifth and sixth graders tend to disagree with the overall negative messages on TV. On the types of programs, students agree the most with the negative messages of cartoons. On the categories of negative messages, students assent the most to the messages of gender stereotypes. 3.The fifth and sixth graders emphasize individual values, mostly on "moral values" and least on "the value of money." 4.Different genders, education levels of mothers, the length of TV watching time, preferences and frequencies of types of programs, the motivation to watch TV, and the involvement of parents will affect students’ identity of the whole negative messages on TV. 5.Different genders and family situations, education levels of fathers, the length of watching TV on holidays, preferences and frequencies of types of programs, the motivation to watch TV, and the involvement of parents will affect students’ emphasis on the whole or partial individual values. 6.Students’ agreement of negative messages on TV is significantly related to individual values. 7.Genders, watching preferences, watching dramatic variety shows frequently, the involvement of parents, the physiological values, and the value of money which all can effectively explain the recognition of the negative messages on TV. 郭大玄 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 160 zh-TW |
