| Summary: | 碩士 === 淡江大學 === 資訊傳播學系碩士班 === 100 === The main purpose of the thesis is to investigate the role sounds play in animated films, and to examine the patterns sound elements construct meanings and affect emotions. Research methods include in-depth interview, experimental design and textual analysis.
Major findings are three-fold. First, sounds often connote symbolic meanings that are not readily detected, and those symbolic meanings are intimately connected with audience’s emotional and cognitive perceptions. Second, sounds usually may complement information afforded visually in animated films, and provide sources of cognitive understanding for the audience. Finally, sounds affect emotions much more powerfully than videos in animation.
