The study of information behavior on fans is only at the beginning stage, not to mention studies on information behavior of art cinema fans. The purpose of this study is therefore to explore information behaviors of art cinema fans, which include understanding of the information needs, the process of information seeking, the use of information, and the sharing of information. Qualitative research approach was adopted in this study, and semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted to collect research data. A total of 8 art cinema fans were interviewed. The recorded audio files were transcribed into text files, and data was coded, analyzed, and interpreted. The research findings include the followings: (1) The needs of fulfilling personal interests and intellectual curiosity of art cinema fans intrigue them to seek information actively; (2) Art cinema fans have different emphasis on the type of information during the process of movie viewing. Before watching art movies, art cinema fans need information about the synopsis, the director, and the case of the movie. On the other hand, art cinema fans need information for reviews after watching art movies; (3) Various information channels and types are accumulated by art cinema fans who seek art film information actively; (4) Art cinema fans search information mainly from the websites of movie database and through Google search engine; (5) Art cinema fans have difficulties in searching, including the limit of they own language ability and limited review information that are available; (6) The use of information of art cinema fans include selecting, recording, sense-making, and tracking; (7) Personal experiences with journals and books and their particular interests have influenced their choice of such channels of information; (8) Art cinema fans share art film information purposely in order to advertise and recommend art films, to look for liked friends, as well as to distinguish and expand the experience and exchange of the knowledge of film; (9) Lastly, the study constructed the model of information share and interaction art cinema fans as the result of the analysis. Based on the research results, suggestions are proposed for information service providers and future researchers. For information service providers, it is suggested that they provide information and services based on the fans’ needs in the future and set up theme based websites as well as virtual communities for art cinema fans. For future researchers, it is suggested that quantitative research approach to be adopted in the future study of information behavior of art cinema fans. Issues that are worthy of further investigations include the study of service satisfaction of art cinema fans in using audio-visual materials in the university library and the research of information sharing of art cinema fans on various online platforms.
