The instruments used in this study were the Career Barriers Scales, Brief COPE,and theTrait sport mental toughness inventory. The subjects were 230college student athletes selected from Taiwan. The data obtained were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and stepwise regression analysis. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. There were significant differences in perceived career barriers based on grades, entrance way, college, and sports standards of the college student athletes. 2. There were significant differences in coping strategies based on different entrance methods, college, and sports standards of the college student athletes. 3. There were significant differences in mental toughness according to different entrance methods, colleges, and sports standards of the college student athletes. 4. Mental toughness positively correlated with coping strategies. 5. Mental toughness negatively correlated with perceived career barriers. 6. The“backoff”could best predict perceived career barriers.
