This not only saves energy, but also can protect our earth. The study removes the traditional compressor but adds a heat exchanger which separates ammonia and water from the ammonia-water solution using the vehicle waste heat. The waste heat turns the liquid ammonia into gas and the refrigerant flows through the whole cooling system and recycles within the system. From the results, this system provides 12±2℃ cool air with the maximum C.O.P. of 3.92. Further improvements can be made for the future applications. This system uses R717 and R718 natural ammonia refrigerants instead of CFCS, HCFC synthetic Freon. There is no Ozone concern even if ammonia leaks.
