Summary: | 碩士 === 東海大學 === 美術學系 === 100 === Jiou-Jiou Peak, situated in the area of Nantou County, changes its scenery with season. It looks like a beautiful painting, featuring mountain layers with bamboo forest, terraces with zigzag rivers across, and the Little Egrets occasionally flying over the mountain. Listening attentively to the silent poem, I feel that my mind is with the nature, staying in a state of serenity. Therefore, all of these elements motivate me to use “The State of Tranquility” as the topic of this thesis. After searching for the components of creation in the nature pulse and combining feelings and scenery together, I slowly recreate the beauty of tranquility by applying line and brush stroke with unadorned style, the accumulated ink law which features multiple layers and the composition method of the actual situation. Based on the idea of exploring for inner reflection, transforming the real scene into the imaginary painting, I write down the images in my mind and seek for the artistic conception of spiritual fountain.
This creation, integrating the traditional Accumulated Ink Law of Gong Xian, Huang Binghong and Li Keran, learns the essence from their technique so as to use it as the substance and basis for my ink painting creation. Meanwhile, I also realize the essence of nature by outdoor sketch. Then, I express my inner feelings and thoughts in my creation via pen and ink. On the other hand, I extract the essential idea from analyzing the multiple creation concepts of Lin Feng Mian, Li Keran and the microcosmic point of view of Georgia Totto O'Keeffe. With the hope of not only preserving the interior meaning of Eastern ideology but also integrating my creation with the strength of the West, I expect to find my own style for creating traditional Chinese ink painting and find the new way for ink painting so as to express the thoughts and show the feelings of moern people.
The contemporary trend of arts develops in a quick way and a deluge of information is brought to all of us. To follow the trend without a thought of it or suit for the public wishes is not the ultimate goal for my creation. Instead, by returning back to every tree and bush in Jiou-Jiou Peak to feel the serenity of nature and listen attentively to the sound of her breath, I realize that the greatest harvest that I reap from my creation which connects my painting with the nature through every brush stroke I draw is how it relieves and bring joyful mood to me.
