Many researchers have placed their focuses on the area of ESL strategies in Taiwan’s educational context; however, little attention has been paid to the perspectives of students taking courses of European as a Second Foreign Language. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate students’ learning strategies applied in the classroom of European languages, hoping to provide some new insights into future curriculum design of Second Foreign Language. The subjects of the present research involved those students taking an elective beginners’ course of European (namely French, German, and Spanish) as a Second Foreign Language at Asia University. This study employed a quantitative methodology, by using Oxford’s Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (1990, SILL), with minor amendments, as a survey tool to investigate the participants’ perceptions towards their Second Foreign Language learning processes. The result of this study may serve as a relevant resource in the future to implement Second Foreign Language curriculum design that can better fit students’ learning styles in accordance with their learning aptitudes, habits, and preferences.
