Description
Summary:碩士 === 南台科技大學 === 休閒事業管理系 === 100 === The development of Social network sites has only been about one decade, but the number of users, has been growing at an amazingly fast speed. Among these many social network sites, Facebook has the largest number of users. Facebook was created in 2004, but at the end of October, 2011, the total number of users has reached 760 million. Facebook entered the Taiwan market in 2009, but it has reached 9 million users just within 2 years. Many researchers study Facebook users’ personality traits and Facebook features, and they found that different personality traits will influence selections of different Facebook features. Watching TV and using Internet have been treated as leisure activities, and researchers believe that Internet uses will reduce time available for other leisure activities. Due to limited amount of leisure time, the more time spent on social network sites; the less time left for other leisure activities. In addition, social network sites uses may have impacts on selection of leisure activities. The main purpose of this study is to explore possible relationships among personality traits, social network sites, and leisure participation. Three hypotheses were proposed: 1. Users with different personality traits will have different social network sites uses, 2. Users with different personality traits will have different leisure participation, 3. The Facebook uses are related to leisure participation. Research objects were college students. Questionnaire was used to collect data. Convenient sampling technique was used for collecting data of 500 students. SPSS17.0 was used to collect and analyze data. Statistics method such as descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t tests, ANOVA, correlations was used, and with a statistical significance of p<.05. The results were: Facebook usages were significantly different for some personality traits, Leisure participation was significantly different for some personality traits, and some Facebook usages and leisure participation were significantly correlated.
