A Study of the Relationship between Body Esteem and Sexual Desire of Female Teachers of Elementary Schools in Kaohsiung City

碩士 === 樹德科技大學 === 人類性學研究所 === 100 === The purpose of this study is to understand the current status of body esteem and sexual desire of the female teachers in Kaohsiung elementary schools, to discuss the difference in body esteem and sexual desire of the teachers from different background, the difference and correlation between body esteem and sexual desire, and the forecast of sexual desire within their background and body esteem. This study was designed with the research method of Questionnaire Survey, included the basic information questionnaire, the body esteem scale, the sexual arousal scale and so on. There were in total of 389 valid samples, and were then analyzed with SPSS 18, the results and conclusions are as follows: 1.The current status of the body esteem: (1)The evaluation of “the entire body esteem”, “the sexual attractiveness” and “the physical condition” of the female teachers in the elementary schools is biased towards positive. However, at the level of “weight concern”, there was more than 50 percent of female teachers with the ideal body weight, the evaluation at this level is biased toward negative. (2)Female teachers in different background variables showed significant difference in age level and BMI, while in other variables showed no significant difference. (3)The older the age is, the higher the level of body esteem is. (4)The degree of body esteem of “underweight” teachers is higher than "standard weight" of teachers. 2.The current status of the sexual desire (1)The female teachers of elementary schools can be aware of sexual desire low. (2)The married in “physical sexual arousal” level are significantly higher than the unmarried. (3)Teaching environment will affect teachers’ perception on sexual desire. 3.There is a high correlation between body esteem and sexual desire; the higher the body esteem is, the higher the level of sexual arousal is, as well as high prediction for sexual desire. 4.Body mass index and sexual desire at all levels is neither relevant. Based on research results and conclusions, this study proposes practical suggestions to serve as reference for researchers, teachers, educators, and educational institutions.
