With natural scenery and unique produce, the government has conducted industry assistance for marketing featured products in Penghu islands. This research probes into the improvement in the space of business field of characteristic industries. Because of the weather condition, Penghu is suited for growing cactus, and recently the characteristic cactus industry in Penghu has gradually drawn more attention. This research examines the project of assisting characteristic cactus industry presented by the Penghu County Government. By exploring with a focus on the local characteristic industry and the space of micro-business field, this research observes how Because of the weather condition, Penghu is suited for growing cactus, and recently the characteristic cactus industry in Penghu has gradually drawn more attention. This research examines the project of assisting characteristic cactus industry presented by the Penghu County Government. By exploring with a focus on the local characteristic industry and the space of micro-business field, this research observes how ten businesses in Penghu devise strategies for the promotion of the cactus industry and the improvement in the space of business field. First, this research adopts documentary analysis to gather and analyze information in connection with the issues of the development of local characteristic industries and micro-business. Secondly, field study and in-depth interview are conducted to examine the current condition of local characteristic industries and the space of business field in Penghu. Results of this research are as follows: 1. Other than the consensus between the local government and businesses, sustainable operation of the characteristic cactus industry relies on the training of talented people, the protection of local industries, as well as multiple developments. 2. Tourism in Penghu is restricted to the peak and off seasons, and how to develop other modes of industries or marketing means in the off season is a necessary aspect regarding the transformation of Penghu. 3. The operational modes of businesses should create features of shops, guiding the attention of tourists to bring about the desire for shopping which would generate benefits to businesses.
