Husband and wife who are separated by distance but tied by internet is our main target. We focus on how this kind of family uses internet as a tool to maintain their dyadic relationship and private connection, and try to find out what functionalities can be adopted by a social network service website to help out our target families. Sixteen wives of commuter families who are experienced with using SNS are interviewed by qualitative research method and semi-structural interview method. Their cohesion and well-being of family interaction are methodically recorded and analyzed by non-participant observation method afterward. We find how husband and wife of the target family interacts to each other will be effected by user’s technology acceptance, environment, daily habituation and graphic manipulation capability, and also by the SNS services’ variation and carriage. Cohesion of family members will become more and more enhanced during a six-stage development, such as (1) getting acquainted, (2) separation dilemma, (3) emotional conflict, (4) loneliness accommodation, (5) refurbishment and (6) interpersonal relationship awareness. In a commuter family, “refurbishment stage” plays the most important role than any other stages. Separated couples try to use any kind of tools to increase their interaction and to refurbish their relationship. We conclude three periods a commuter family tends to have from the fore-mentioned six-stage development, say acquainting period, running-in period and prolong period. Couples like to exchange some extraordinary information at first two periods, but prefer to share routine life at the last period. This concept can lead to further SNS design to help out commuter families. A prototype website has been made with this concept to not only broaden users’ connection but also deepen their relationship. Nei-ching Yeh 葉乃靜 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 121 zh-TW |
