Previous studies indicated that prebiotics and probiotics reduced hyperglycemia and the incidence of metabolic syndrome factors. This study divided into two parts: The aim of first part study, we try to evaluate the effect of Lactobacillus plantarum K68 (K68) and Fruit Vegetable Fermentant (FVF) on with high fructose diet induce insulin resistance rat. Rat were divided randomly into 5 groups: the control group was normal diet, whereas the experimental group was fed with high fructose diet (HFD) and were orally fed with K68, FVF and MIX for 8 weeks. The result found that K68, FVF reduced blood lipid values and the body weight, increased the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and decreased tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels, reduced blood glucose, enhance insulin level to conclude significant hypoglycemic effect in rats. The aim of second part study, we examined K68, FVF for inhibitory effects against hyperglycemia on STZ induced diabetic rat. The result showed that oral administrated K68, FVF and MIX can reduced blood lipid values and the body weight, increased the activities of GPx, SOD, catalase, and decreased reduced TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 levels, increase insulin secretion levels in the group given K68, FVF .And blood glucose ΔAUC in the performance of OGTT were significantly lower than diabetic rat. Therefore, from the above experimental results, Lactobacillus plantarum K68 and fruit Vegetable Fermentant has potentials to used as a functional foods of ameliorate insulin resistance and hyperglycemia.
