碩士 === 實踐大學 === 時尚與媒體設計研究所 === 100 === The thesis was inspired by an enormous sense of loss as a result of suffering an unprecedented bereavement. Insomnia happens every day and I can’t clearly recognize my own countenance due to emotional loss. During several sleepless nights, I try to do self-portrait paintings, and I notice two different personalities have revealed in my daytime and nighttime works. By creating self-portraits every day, I gaze at my wounds and see myself. “My wound existed before me, ” writes Joë Bousquet, a French poet. “I was born to embody it.” It is not fatalism but to be aware of and accept the inevitability of wound, and therefore to be again holding the fate. With self-portraits, hand drawn illustrations, writing and a series of images, I endeavor to approach the shadows, light and dark side within objects. Furthermore, I draw near and capture the real me via journals and images, showing how a wounded heart is mended through my creations, and then integrate all these materials into an animation. Ultimately, the unaware serenity deep in my heart will have been transferred and empathized.
