There are considerable research and development value. Treatment of 3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-D-glucal with various alcohols in the presence of 1.8 equivalents of FeCl3-SiO2 under solvent-free conditions at room temperature, the corresponding 2,3 – unsaturated-O- glycosides were obtained in good yields. FeCl3-SiO2 was be recovered easily and reused efficiently.
