A Study of Factors and Effectiveness of CO2 Emission Reduction in Community

碩士 === 國立聯合大學 === 建築學系碩士班 === 100 === The construction of sustainable living environment is not only an international trend but also Taiwan’s current development direction. The research explores the current status of community residents’ environment knowledge, participation in community development, personal carbon reduction behaviors, factors of community carbon reduction and the effectiveness of community carbon reduction by carbon reduction literature review and case analysis. In addition, path diagrams for path analyses of factors of community carbon reduction and the effectiveness of community carbon reduction will also be constructed. The study adopted the questionnaire survey method. Seven communities: Nanhe community, Fuyuan community, and Fu-shing community of Tongxiao Township in Miaoli County, Wennei community in Chunan, Fuxing community in Miaoli, Donghe community of Nanzhuang, Shuangtan community of Sanyi participated in the study and responded to the questionnaires. According to the principle of sampling, totally 245 questionnaires were sent out and 163 valid one were retrieved. The returned data was statistically analyzed using SPSS 12.0 for descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA and multiple regression path analysis. The study found that community residents of Miaoli County possess adequate environment knowledge and carbon reduction concepts, but they still cannot effectively use them in personal carbon reduction behaviors and community carbon reduction practice. In addition, more or less environment knowledge that community residents possess will not have a positive impact on community carbon reduction program. But if they understand how they can reduce carbon emission in the community, they will exhibit their knowledge in the carbon reduction achievement. Furthermore, as most residents know that the promotion of carbon reduction program cannot be accomplished by just one person but needs the joint effort, the participation of residents will directly affect the result of community carbon reduction. Moreover, if residents can understand community carbon reduction methods, community carbon reduction can have better performance. Finally, we put forward suggestions as a reference for government to develop low-carbon community policies according to our research findings.
