For this reason, every household was accustomed to prepare various patent medicines for emergency use, which led to the development of a special industry of “Medicine Kit.” The Study applied in-depth interview as the research method and the study objects comprised the “Medicine Kit” salesperson in Miaoli County Area. Additionally, the study adopted the interview data with the pharmaceutical companies, distributor and users of the study objects with a cumulative 13 respondents, using semi-structural interview to emphasize the following study purposes, including: (1) Discuss the rise and fall of the medicine kit industry. (2) Analyze the business management of medicine kit industry. (3) Explore into the marketing method for salespersons in managing the family medicine kit market. (4) The relation and characteristics between the salesperson and users. The methods of pharmaceutical companies running medicine kit salespersons are summarized into three different types of management: In the preliminary stage, pharmaceutical companies managing salespersons via distributors. At mid stage, the pharmaceutical companies directly hired salespersons to operate the regional selling. Finally at the late stage, the salesperson operated proprietary business. We discovered from the study on Miaoli Hakka area that the salespersons were all Hakka people from Miaoli area and due to the hardworking and conservative personality of the Hakka people plus the large labor input needed for the medicine kit work while the work of medicine kit did not have limitation of education and the salary was equivalent to that of a base civil servant, the medicine kit became another source of income for the young Hakka people at the time, other than the traditional income based on agriculture. The rise and fall of the medicine kit implies that the gradually declining industry was the results of the impact to economic development, increase in living standards, changes of public’s Medicine habit, and the constant revision in the medical care system and regulations. Facing with the options for medical seeking and appeals in the professional medical care for the bodies in addition to focusing on the constant treatment relation and health insurance system, the public doesn’t seem to have time for reviewing the past medical care culture.
