A commercial PFC control IC UC3854BN is combined with an external Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) circuit to realize the gating signals with overlapping-time design for the studied current-fed full-bridge converter. High efficiency, high power factor and simple circuit topology can be achieved by the proposed high-power converter. The operating principles and design criteria are analyzed and discussed in details. A 1.2kW laboratory prototype was implemented and tested.
