With the changes of society and historical background, under the influence of Western culture and technology, people’s attitude towards life, the aesthetic experiences have become different. In this rapid-changing and quickly-developing era, today's due to the impact of Western arts and multicultural society, most students have better understanding of Western art than the oriental one. What is worn, they even just bear no interest in Ink painting! Under such circumstances, there must be a declining trend in Ink painting. Therefore, how to carry out the art education in schools to cultivate students artistic and aesthetic feeling and further, and the glory of Chinese culture is indeed a serious lesson. Because of the environmental differences between the modern life and the life depicted in the traditional ink paintings, students may just feel it remote and unfamiliar. They could not experience the ancestor’s thinking experience as well. The purpose of this study is to investigate the present teaching in Ink painting in junior high stage in Taiwan. It adopts an experimental method to explore the use of and the link between the modern techniques and traditional techniques. Through the activities and programs designed, it aims to find out the courses suitable for nowadays students. It starts from the traditional learning integrating the experimental teaching to help students to experience and explore the unique art value of Ink painting. The primary purpose is to arouse students’ interest .Moreover, developing the cognitive ability to understand their own culture, understanding the unique value of traditional Ink painting, and appreciating their own culture, are also the main tasks of the present experimental teaching design.
