Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 藝術與人文教學研究所 === 100 === The aim of this study was to find the relationship between conductors’ characteristic of the wind band and the different leadership styles in junior and elementary schools. A conductor was respected because he or she touched the emotion of explaining the music and the delicate technique. Additionally, the main point that he or she let students show the respect from the deep of part is “leading hearts”.
Two questionnaires were designed in this study. First was “the characteristic test questionnaire” based on the dimension of Lai’s personality test. Another was the “leadership style test questionnaire“.
I collected 11 conductors of the wind bands in the junior and elementary schools in Taipei City, New Taipei City and Keelung City. I classified two types of characteristics, the conductors type and the average type. There were 9 conductors’ characteristics were classified as “the conductor’s type”, and the other two were “the average type”. The meaning of “the conductor’s type” meets the transformation leadership, from the highest score to the lowest score was "encourage", "personal care", "intelligence stimulate" than "charming". And "personal care" gets higher score than "the work initiates" in Initiate and Consideration, which corresponded the Y theories of management style. The “average type” also matched up transformation leadership as well. The highest score to the lowest score is "encourage", "intelligence stimulate", "charming" and than "personal care". And "the work initiates" gets higher score than "personal care" in Initiate and Consideration, and it may be close to X theories of management style.
This study’s contribution lies to expect directors understanding their own personality characteristic, considering the relation between personality characteristic and leading bands, and exhausting them to the transformation leadership of each level, then developing leadership charm becomes a student learning model, it can even promote bands’ effect. I also expect that the education administration organization can value band conductor more, let directors join the education curriculum of leadership curriculum, and increasing departments of band conductor education and leadership. To hold more studies about leader, and build up conductor profession review mechanism with providing schools choosing conductor of reference.
