Adults who run into manga since the 1980s, most of them are still reading Manga today. As the boom of information technology products, along with the era of ever-changing network circulation, has made e-books became a popular form of media used in computer and Internet. As the result, people’s behavior in obtaining and reading information are gradually changed. Years of government effort on content digitization has enable Taiwan's e-book output value to be expected to reach hundred-billions dollars in 2013, thus e-comics is an inevitable trend. This paper studied e-comics as a new technology products and e-comic reader as subject to explore how the legibility and readability affecting the acceptance in reading e-comics. Subjects' behavior of image identification and text reading were studied by using questionnaire survey and true experimental method against all kinds of constituent elements exists in manga. Then, questionnaire given to subjects to gain further understanding of their attitudes and preferences. Then, the eye movement trajectory data of three kinds of subjects reading e-comics were collected through the eye tracker. These data consists of the Eye movement, Fixation duration, Fixation count and the fixation probability of Interest area was analyzed. Results of this study showed that Manga Artists have the highest satisfaction against the elements of manga, legibility and readability for all types of e-comics. The preference over e-comics was found neither affected by subjects' types nor subjects' reading qualifications. Preference over e-comics is not affected by Satisfaction of subject on Manga elements of legibility and readability. Analysis from the eye tracker data shows that during the reading process of the subject, Interest Area of Dialog Box is the most significant area of interest while Interest Area of Character Image is the most significant in terms of image element from the result of their Fixation duration, Fixation count and the fixation probability of Interest area. Finally, this report could be referred by the manga publishing industry and manga artist during its direction of developing e-comics and improving the attractiveness of e-comics creation.
