Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 資訊工程學研究所 === 100 === We present a novel approach for album browsing in the form of a multiscale image that is continuous across the scale dimension. A user can smoothly zoom into the image to reveal the additional part of the data hierarchy or zoom backward to obtain the summarization of the data set with a higher level semantic overview. We propose a set of criteria for such a summarization and try to satisfy them both. Without any heavyweight precomputation, all operations in our system are realtime, enabling an interactive interface for album navigation. Our image browsing interface include two characteristics, a novel representation of a hierarchical set of image and a browsing style which is similar to digital-map browsing. In addition, we provide continuous transitions between level switchings. In a user study, the experimental results show that participants preferred both the innovating image browsing style and efficiency of our multiscale collage over other systems for image browsing.
