Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 經濟學研究所 === 100 === Recent year, government and private department both put strength on photovoltaic industry. Technical advancement is a key factor to promote the industrial developing. Therefore , R&D activities in photovoltaic firms should be emphasized. Hence this paper intends to explore the cause of decision on photovoltaic firm’s R&D spending. Then, by the linkage between R&D spending and its outcome, patent, to integrate a concept of R&D activities in photovoltaic firms.
Taking public offering companies in photovoltaic for subject, we use pooling OLS, random effect, fixed effect models to find what drives the R&D spending, and Poisson, negative binomial models to find what drives patent applications.
The empirical result shows: 1. R&D expenditure was affected by firm size, firm age, R&D subsidy and R&D cooperation. 2. Patent applications were affected by R&D expenditure, photovoltaic categories.
In this paper, we found that in photovoltaic industry, the impact of firm size on R&D activities can’t be ignored. And if government wants to promote the R&D activities in photovoltaic firms, besides subsidies, Industry-University cooperative can be reinforced.
