The problems become even more serious in urban areas. In order to reach the social sustainability of the goal Thus, it is urgent and imperative to propose and implement management strategies which can effectively curtail the ownership and usage of bicycle for the goal of sustainability.
Our governments also actively promote bicycle transportation and related activities around. Urgent to promote effective management strategies to improve bicycle ownership and usage, in order to understand the household bicycle ownership and usage process in the different management strategies,to develop the choice behavior models of bicycle ownership and usage is extremely important.
Based on this, this study employs Logit model to model the bicycle ownership and usage behaviors, respectively. This study decided to choice Taipei for the study area, using the Logit model to construct household bicycle ownership and usage choice behaviors model and using the stated preference method to collect the data construct the mode choice behaviors in bicycle-related policies to analysis
management strategy. To do this, this study first conducts a nationwide questionnaire survey by disseminating a total of 500 questionnaires in Taipei household data in the empirical analysis, based on simple random sampling. A total of 494 valid questionnaires are returned. Then the bicycle Logit models are developed accordingly.
The results of the ownership model show that population, social economics and living region are major contributing factors to households bicycle ownership. The results of the usage show that the main purpose of cyclists on commuters/school and Interchange transportation, when there are good parking facilities, people will have higher utilization rates. By the policy simulation model that we know if to promote bicycle usage should strengthen the existing traffic environment and develop incentives for enhancing the utilization of bicycle considerable benefit.
