Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 公共與文化事務學系南島文化研究碩士班 === 100 === Nowadays it is common that the Ami accepted Christianity. In the past, kawas is the most important notion of Ami’s belief and from which many society values are developed. In Ami society organization, family relationship and age-set are considered to be the two most special features and each of them has its own hierarchical. In 1945 the True Jesus Church (TJC) evangelized the gospel to the Ami tribe in Huang-Ye village, eastern Taiwan. The main faith of the TJC doctrines includes Holy Spirit, the sacraments of Water Baptism, Foot-washing and Holy Communion, Sabbath Day and Unitarianism. This paper aims to analyze the change of Ami kawas concept through the observation on an Ami tribe whih accepts the TJC and base on the Ami-followers' activities at church, Organization and the practice of their daily religious life. Furthermore, this research also studies on the changes of kawas opnion and attempts to find out how Ami’s traditional concepts connect to modern religions.
