Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 兒童文學研究所 === 100 === This study was conducted to analyze and generalize the viewpoints of the creation of Cao Wen Xuan’s works by gathering his theoretical books in literature and the related references from 80’s to 90’s. The aim of this study was to read carefully and evaluate Cao’s novels which include the quality of fantasy like: “Geng Niao”, “Da Wang Book I” and “Da Wang Book II” and along with the studies by several contemporary scholars in China. The objective in this report is to develop the structure of investigation in three major parts: descriptive skill, role analysis and the characteristics of the world the author invented. This study is consisted of six chapters. Chapter one describes the objective of this study, the background and motive, the purpose, procedures of conducting this research, the scope and limitation. Chapter two illustrates Cao’s bibliography and also focuses on his points of view in literature. We attempted to make a comparison in later analysis through analyzing the creation of Ciao’s works and referring to the elements of fantasy novels. Chapter three discusses author’s descriptive skill with the approach of scheme, structure and foreshadow. Chapter four describes how the roles are being developed in the novels by the type of characters, the method of formation and the descriptive technique. Chapter five aims to explore the characteristics of the world that the author has invented. Chapter six is performed to summarize the previous statement. We also evaluate and discuss the relationship between Cao’s theory in literature and the creation of his novels. Furthermore, this study provides the observation that hopefully can be taken as the reference for the subsequent writers and researchers. The present study is not only designed to show the path and dimension of fantasy novel under the modern thinking of Chinese culture but also develops the foundation for those who are concerned with the children literature can mutually discuss and talk about the creation and research of fantasy novel.
