Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 教育學系(所) === 100 === Guan-Shan Vocational Senior High School was established to promote education and employment of students in remote areas. The school has cultivated many salt of the earth in the past 56 years. As the economic structure change, the population outflow to metropolitan districts has led to the decline of the community and the crisis of the survival of KSVS. The school aims to take care of every student’s future with sincere heart providing the teachers and students with dignity and passion to undertake the mission of education. The purposes of the research are, 1. Reconstructing the history of KSVS, finding out features of school management in vocational high school period and comprehensive high school period. 2. Recording the process of how the school alters its strategies against the challenges and changing of governmental education policies. 3. Introspecting causes that effect rise and fall of the school. The research adopted research method of life history. The research reconstructs the developing process of KSVS, established in 1954 and experienced three major transformations of education system, through data collection, documents analysis and interviews. Community development and education policies make the changes of school system. In junior high school period, the school focused on promoting local student to get higher education. Then the school transformed into vocational high school in order to cultivate local students’ iii employment. The school transformed again into comprehensive high school following the policy of education reformation. In this period, the school focused on promoting students to get higher education. Extracurricular activities showed various talents of students, making it the main feature of school management. The main feature in vocational high school period was that it’s a physical activity-focused school. The main feature in comprehensive high school was that it’s an aboriginal-focused school. The school transformed from comprehensive high school to high quality vocational high school responding low birth-rate. I have understood through the process of research that, the school and the parent should cooperate and work hard together shaping great environment for students, also accompany them through growing. When the school, the parent and the student find their own best position and develop good communication, school development will be firm and steady, creating a chance of all-win situation.
