The research subjects are parents from parent-child team , parents from individual team who both participate story-telling competition from 2009 to 2011 , kindergarten teachers, preschool kindergarten counselors in Miaoli County, and the principals who hold the competition. After half-structure, face-to-face interview as well as the writer’s observation in person as a well-trained teacher, the conclusions of the quaitative study are as below: 1.the fact of the donated books used by creative story-telling competition held at Miaoli County kindergartens for individual group, the number of books used is over 60% for three years. For parent-child group, the number of books used is over 50%. The total use of donated books is over 80%. 2.The effects acquired from the donated books and the process of children creative story telling competition. (1)Children participants’ story-telling ability, reading ability , presentation and establishment of confidence are all enhanced. (2)The children affected by picture books realize that they need courage to join story-telling competition and also share the happiness of listening to and telling stories. 3.The trainees play in books donation and story-telling competition. (1)The trained teachers play roles as strategy users on reading instruction using donated books, as promoters on reading teaching, and also as encouragers on family education. (2)The trained parents experience the importance of parent-children reading altogether during the process. Abstract
The study takes “ children creative story-telling competition” held by Miaoli County for example to launch the journey of exploration.
