However, the overdependence on petrochemical resources has resulted in environmental pollution and energy depletion, among other problems, which not only impact economic growth and people’s daily lives but also have given rise to ecological crises. To face and solve these problems and crises, more and more emphasis has been placed on the search for, the development of and the promotion of “green energy”. As a promising power source in the future, fuel cells are configured for transforming the chemical energy of the hydrogen fuel into electricity, with the advantages of being highly efficient in energy conversion, pollution-free and eco-friendly. Furthermore, with hydrogen energy being an abundant resource on the earth, a hydrogen-fueled proton exchange membrane fuel cell can work for power generation continuously as long as there is a constant supply of hydrogen. Therefore, the development of hydrogen energy and the research on hydrogen-fueled proton exchange membrane fuel cells have attracted worldwide attention, and many advanced countries and technology enterprises are starting to invest in studies in the related fields. This research aims to study green energy, interactive entertainment and science education and apply them to the design of physical and interactive toys. Combining education and entertainment, this study incorporates interactive technology into the design of physical toys and gathers knowledge for development of the toy-related fields. The core of this study encompasses academic research, design ability and energy education. More particularly, this study combines a fuel cell module with LEGO building blocks to develop a green energy interactive science toy. Thanks to the high workability and interactivity of LEGO blocks, a hydrogen-fueled proton exchange membrane fuel cell is integrated into the power design of a LEGO block toy. The structure combining the fuel cell with the power module of the LEGO block toy can be further applied to various toys and other fields in the future, thereby promoting the integration of science toys with interactive entertainment toys, enabling the players to come up with more creative ideas, and leading the toy industry into a new era. It is hoped that the players will be inspired to think of more creative science applications and, with the correct knowledge on energy, learn to use energy properly and cherish all resources, thus not only achieving the goals of “learning by doing” and “learning by playing”, but also allowing sustainable development of the ecology and the environment. This research is intended to contribute to the development of green energy and the research on interactive toys. Pa,Pai-Shan 巴白山 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 124 zh-TW
