Adopting the questionnaire survey method, the researcher self-developed the questionnaire and used purposive sampling to target 720 junior high school students from 3 public and 2 private junior high schools in Kaohsiung City. Totally, 720 questionnaires were distributed, and 650 returned, among which 607 questionnaires were valid. The return rate was 84.31%. Data were analyzed by statistic methods of mean, standard deviation, chi-square test, t-test and one-way ANOVA. The main findings of this study are as follows: 1. Nearly 70% of the junior high school students begin their journey into Japanese manga culture as early as their primary school years. 2. The main source of the Japanese manga culture for the Junior high school students is television; the most popular Japanese manga are “Naruto” and “One Peace”. 3. Over all, the Junior high school students frequently get in touch with Japanese manga culture, while the boy students have more frequency than the girl students. 4. The Junior high school students favor Japanese manga works with the elements of “humor” and “fighting and adventure.” 5. More than 70% of the Junior high school students spend less than 100 NT dollars on the Japanese manga culture products. 6. Though most of the junior high school students begin to get in touch with Japanese manga culture since their primary school years, they tend not to become the Japanese manga fans; the boy students are more inclined to be the fans than the girls. 7. The Junior high school students generally hold positive values, including self values, group values, emotional values and life values. 8. The Junior high school students who have had the Japanese manga culture experiences are more likely to identify themselves with values of group regulations, self-accomplishment, ways to get along with others, and eco-protection than those without the experiences. 9. Junior high school students who spend less on Japanese manga culture products treasure the family values more than those spending more; it shows that “materialism” is likely to damage students’ “family values” 10. Junior high school students who identify themselves as fans of Japanese manga culture would treasure the values, such as love affection, eco-protection, self-accomplishment and ways to get along with others more than those who are not the fans.
