Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 航運管理學系 === 100 === As a result of the rapid growth of China’s economy, it has led its container ports to be vigorous. Therefore, Taiwan has faced not only the keen competition, but also the risk of marginalization. To respond to seeking the new opportunities in the development of our ports, this thesis endeavors to evaluate the performance of international container ports in the cross-strait tri-region with data envelopment analysis and analyze their efficiency with respect to different metric and provide the direction to improve and the scale to adjust by slack analysis. The sixteen main international container ports in the cross strait tri-region were selected as evaluating units in accordance with the Containerisation International Online (2011). The input variables selected include the number of container berths, the length of berth, terminal area, the number of gantry cranes, the number of quay cranes and reefer plugs and the output variable is the volume of container throughput. CCR and BCC model are employed to evaluate their input-oriented relative efficiency. In addition, this study evaluate the change of efficiency between original models and non-discretionary model which considers that the number of gantry cranes is non-discretionary factor and explain the influence of non-discretionary variable to each port.
