Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 食品科學系 === 100 === Abstract In recent years, the food quality and safety problems had drawn great attentions in the world. This is due to an increased food scandal behind current food safety assurance system which is so far the food companies and government count on. When the plasticizer issue happened in Taiwan, there were still some good food manufacturers surviving in the markets. Thus, self-regulation is proved to be important. The study aims to explore impact of self-regulation on supplier performance. And we intend to answer following questions: what is meaning of self-regulation, what are reasons of adopting self-regulation systems, and what are impacts of self-regulation on supplier performance. To answer these questions, we carried out firstly in-depth interviews with 12 food manufacturers and later we send questionnaire and received 65 valid responses. Our results suggest that supplier communication is negatively related with supplier performance, and penalties and commitment is positively related with supplier performance. This implies that when the manufacturing and suppliers have common goals it will lead to the commitment. Commitment could help strengthen the quality requirements of obedience, acceptance and responsibility. Overall, we suggest instead of just using inspection report from suppliers, food manufacturers should use supplier commitment and penalties and under these situations use less communication as tool to manage suppliers performance.
