Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 教育經營與管理研究所碩士班 === 100 === The purpose of this research is to explore the needs of primary school teachers’ professional development in Kaohsiung City, and to compare differences between their needs in terms of demographic variables. A questionnaire survey was administered in this study. 695 objects of survey were randomly draw from primary school teachers in Kaohsiung City with stratified sampling method, and 660 effective questionnaires were recovered. Data were analyzed by frequency distribution, t-test, and one-way ANONA. The findings of this research were summarized as follows: 1. Teachers in Kaohsiung City have different degrees of needs for professional development, ranging between medium to high leve. 2. Teachers with heterogeneous backgrounds have different needs for professional developments. (1) No significant differences of needs were found between teachers with different genders. (2) The older teachers ''demand for professional development are higher than the younger ones. (3) Teachers who are married with children have higher demand for professional development than teachers of others marital status. (4) Teachers with different educational attainment demand no significant difference of professional development. (5) Senior teachers demand more professional development than junior teachers. (6) Teachers who also hold administrative positions at school have more professional development needs than other groups of teachers. (7) Teachers in small and medium-sized school demand more professional development needs than those in large schools. (8) Teachers of the different school districts demand no difference of professional developments. Based on the above conclusions, the suggestions are as follows: 1. Suggestions for administrative authorities (1) Proper planning for teachers'' professional development activities based on different backgrounds. (2) To provide diverse learning programs, and to encourage teachers to share their experiences. 2. Suggestions for teachers (1) With an open mind, to establish the concept of lifelong learning and to enhance professional development. (2) The positive response to the professional development requirements and recommendations to facilitate the future to apply for the consideration of teachers'' professional development. 3. Suggestions for future study:expanding the scope of the study and objects, the quality of both research methods and depth of teachers'' professional development content.
