Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 電機工程學系碩士班 === 100 === The design procedure of a coplanar-waveguide (CPW)-fed modified open cross-slot antenna has been presented in this study. A standard cross-slot is designed for the prototype. With a modified open cross-slot, this wideband CPW-fed antenna has both linear and circular polarizations. The characteristics of the wideband impedance bandwidth resulted from the merging of three resonant modes into a wide band. By etching an open cross-slot in the ground plane and deforming slot segments, two orthogonal electric fields with a phase difference of 90 degree excite a circularly polarized (CP) wave. Broadband impedance characteristics with circular polarization at 2.34 GHz have been achieved after tuning its geometrical parameters of the slot antenna. For the case of the modified cross-slot, the proposed antenna has a broadband impedance bandwidth of 48.8 % at a center frequency of 2.24 GHz and left-hand CP radiation waves of 8.9 %. The measured impedance bandwidth of return loss > +10 dB ranged from 1.69 to 2.78 GHz. From the comparisons of the tested results, it could be noted that the operated CP band can be modified by changing the geometrical dimension of the slot and ground plane. The proposed antenna is very simple and is a candidate for use as a radiating element of multi-functional wireless communication systems.
