碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 國語文學系碩士班 === 100 === Folktales crystallize a folk’s living and thinking, while folktales for children form a source of knowledge and pleasure for a folk’s youngsters. Children’s tales, when based on or originated from folktales, re-created under norms and demands of children’s literature, and shared in the same time with characteristics of children’s and folk literature, can flavor our cultural legacies left by ancestors with modern elements, and therefore provide children with more pleasure of reading. This thesis contains contents involving children literature, folklore, and comparative literature. To start with, concepts of folktales, children’s tales, original tales for children, and folktales for children are accounted respectively. After this follows the part of extrinsic study, which begin with an introduction to the object text and then carry on to other intertextual works that are still circulating. Topics and materials of each story from the object text are analyzed in the part of intrinsic research. As for the part of form research, the focus is laid on characterization, structure arrangement, and scenery description. Adaptation techniques can be concluded and a more systematic set of adapting methods formulated through the analysis of the text--in the aim of utilizing these methods as a guide for beginning writers committed to children’s tales, or adopting them as standards in teaching children how to compose an adaptation writing.
