He mastered Buddhism and was proficient in Sanskrit and Chinese. In addition, he was assisted by many excellent disciples and fully supported by the emperor Yao Xing. The texts he translated were hundreds; his terms skill as well as contents judgment were unprecedented. Kumârajiva carved out a new era of translation. The quality of his Buddhist texts translation has been approved by many people. This study discusses Kumârajiva’s translating scripture and its result through Kumârajiva’s life, teachers and friends, and his disciples. The study is divided into five chapters: Chapter One, introduction, presents problem description and literature discussion; it is hoped to develop the study aspect by the ancient result. Chapter Two analyzes Kumârajiva’s life, teachers and friends. Chapter Three discusses Chang-an monks team that Kumârajiva led. Chapter Four discusses Kumârajiva’s business in translating scripture.
